Kaiwara Classic MTB race

Last weekend Christine and I travelled to Culverdon for the Kaiwara Classic MTB race. Neither of us had done it before, but it looked like a good fun race to start the season off. The race started with a long tarseal section, which meant a big bunch start. Once we reached the gravel and the hills (about 7km in I think) the Pushbikes juniors (Bradley, Anton, and Logan) took off and left the rest of us in their wake! It was a fun course, with gentle climbs and long downhills, so lots of recovery on the way.

I was pleased to have a fairly good race for this stage of my training. My climbing legs are starting to return, so I am happy about that. Still alot of work to be done though.

Many thanks to Southern Cross Healthcare who sponsored the event, giving $350 to the fastest man and woman. Very much appreciated! Christine was also stoked to take out 2nd place and win a large leg of lamb! (for those of you who don't know, she is a vegetarian - she was disgusted at even having to hold the lamb and basically threw it to Chris Harte when she returned to her seat!)
